Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) fruit extract.
Each capsule contains dry extract from the fruits of Silybum marianum (36-44:1) 173-186.7 mg equivalent to silymarin 75-80.9%, calculated as silibinin (extractant: Ethyl acetate >96.7%).
It also contains the following excipients: Gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, maize starch, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulphate, titanium dioxide E 171 and ferric oxides E 172.
Traditionally used for liver tonic.
Treatment: 1 cap 3 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to silymarin 420 mg).
Maintenance Dose: 1 cap 2 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to silymarin 280 mg) is sufficient.
Administration: The capsules should be taken whole with some liquid before meals.
In the event of an overdose, the mild laxative effect may occur to a greater extent. In this case, consult a physician for symptomatic measures.
Use in children: There have been no adequate investigations on the use of Legalon in children. It should, therefore, not be used in children <12 years.
No experience is available with regard to the use of Legalon during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, it should only be used after consultation with a doctor.
A mild laxative effect has occasionally been observed.
